In Taiwan drinking aged tea is very common and believed to not only provide wonderful health, but also chi energy that flows through the body and invigorates you in a calming way. This is a medium-bodied tea from the Lishan region that has been aged for 19 years.
Aging has given this tea clear mineral/rock and toasted notes that work together nicely. Without a doubt, this oolong would've been great when fresh, but the aging has developed a wonderfully mellow flavor with a long-lingering aftertaste.
This tea is perfectly suited for a colder day in Autumn or Winter, and a great afternoon/evening tea as well. It is especially nice to help clear your head and cleanse your system after a night of indulging in beverages of another sort.
